Hello, friends, and welcome to my first official president’s message after being installed into this illustrious position at our 60th Annual Installation Gala! The gala was just spectacular and highlighted a wonderful year under Gordon Dieterle's presidency. We were sad to say goodbye to L.A. Perkins, who has been on the board for so many years, but thank her again for her invaluable service and know that she will continue to stay involved. We were also pleased to (finally!) present Judge Samantha Schosberg Feuer with our “Jurist of the Year” award, and we once again applaud Leonard Feuer for his heartfelt yet hilarious introduction of the award recipient.
Those of you who attended the gala know how great a night it was, and those who were unable to attend need to be sure that you do not miss out next year! I must again give thanks to all of our generous gala sponsors, as well as our annual sponsors, without whose support we could not have achieved the success that we did this year.
As we have slowed down bar association activities for the summer and many of you have gone or will be going away for well-deserved vacations, you can rest assured that your president and your SPBCBA board of directors will be working tirelessly to plan out next year’s calendar of events. If you are thinking about getting involved – perhaps serving on a committee or stepping up to chair a committee – please reach out and let me know your interests. We are always looking for the next crop of leaders – is that you?!
Finally, you all have received notices for renewal of your SPBCBA membership for the 2022-2023 bar year commencing on July 1, 2022. There are a couple of things I would like to highlight in that regard:
- First, membership dues have not increased, which is a great relief as prices everywhere are rising. However, membership dues will increase if you fail to renew before September 8, 2022.
- Second, lunch pricing will actually decrease as we change the venue to City Fish Market. I know that some members will welcome this change while others may not, but our last venue presented a 20% increase that the board rejected.
- Third, we are offering membership renewal packages (membership dues plus seven (7) pre-paid lunches) for $420 – or one (1) free lunch. Yes, I know they say there is no such thing as a “free lunch,” but we have proved that adage wrong!
I encourage all of you renew your membership so you will continue to stay in-the-know about all things SPBCBA-related.
As always, I remain accessible to all members and potential members – no question is too big or too small, and I love to talk! Those of you who know me know that I am a pretty rapid responder, so feel free to call or email me.
