Labor and Employment Committee
The Labor & Employment Law Committee is comprised of attorneys who practice primarily in the areas of labor and employment law. The Committee also welcomes members who practice in the areas of immigration and employee benefits.
Members of the committee are litigators and non-litigators who represent employers and employees. For the past several years, the committee has offered seminars and networking events two to three times per year. The events focus on relevant labor and employment law topics. Some recent seminar topics include social networking, the hiring process, disability law, the Affordable Care Act, government agency updates, workplace violence and Computer Abuse and Data Recovery Act. The seminars are paired with a breakfast, lunch or happy hour to provide ample networking opportunities for attendees.
Seminar attendees often include human resource managers, representatives of employee leasing companies, business owners and attorneys. All of the Committee’s seminars are approved for Continuing Legal Education and Human Resource Certification Institute credits.
Committee members have the opportunity to help plan and speak at the seminars, to write articles for The Advocate, an online publication of the SPBCBA, and to network with fellow attorneys, HR professionals and business owners.
